Physiotherapy is at the core of assessing an individual residents risk of falling, creating a suitable care plan and implementing the appropriate treatment to improve a residents mobility.
In line with The Best Practice Principles, reinforced by The Safety and Quality Council publication "Preventing Falls and Harm from Falls in Older People" All residents of Aged Care facilities should have access to individualised assessment of falls risk factors potentially modifiable by an individual prescription of an exercise program and/or group exercise to address these risk factors. The exercise program should be developed by a physiotherapist who will regularly review any progress as necessary.
